RF Government quota

Foreign citizens from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan can apply to budget places on an equal basis with citizens of the Russian Federation. Citizens of the rest of the CIS countries, Ukraine and Georgia can also enroll in the budgetary form of education upon confirmation of the status of a compatriot. To do this, as part of the submission of documents, you will need to write an application and provide documents certifying that your relatives in the ascending line were citizens of the USSR: your birth certificate with translation, passport with translation and birth certificate of one of the parents, as well as documents confirming the change surnames (if necessary).

Foreign citizens of the countries of near and far abroad can also enroll in the budgetary form of training for undergraduate programs at ITMO University through Rossotrudnichestvo within the framework of RF Government quotas.

Application can be submitted until March 1 to the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo at the Embassy of the Russian Federation or to the Russian Center for Science and Culture.

The application system is available at www.russia.study.

Within the framework of admission under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation, the university participates only in the second stage of selection, i.e. accepts or rejects applications from candidates selected by Rossotrudnichestvo.

Many CIS countries independently distribute quotas and collect application forms and copies of other documents from approved candidates to prepare for the second stage.

A fully-fledged second stage begins closer to summer, when the questionnaires of all selected candidates are transferred to the information system for consideration by the universities.

When considering applications, the University takes into account:

  • the current performance of the candidate: report card / statement of grades for the last years of study with an emphasis on the average grade and results in core disciplines;
  • individual achievements: certificates and diplomas of the Olympiads in recent years, publications, participation in conferences;
  • participation in various educational programs outside the school or university program.

The points for the Rossotrudnichestvo exams are currently not provided to the University.

Upon approval of the application, the candidate receives a referral to study, on the basis of which he is enrolled in the student body from the date of arrival at the university (outside the terms of the general admission campaign and without additional exams).

A visa instruction also appears in the Rossotrudnichestvo system, on the basis of which a selected candidate can apply for a study visa at the Embassy of the Russian Federation.

An approved candidate, at the time of enrollment, makes a choice between educational programs within the framework of his chosen direction of study.

Please note that during their studies for students within the quota, transfer within the university is possible only within the framework of the direction of study.

The Russian language essay competition for foreign applicants is held remotely. The winners of the Competition receive an additional 5 points for admission to ITMO University undergraduate programs.

Participants need to register in their Personal Account and place there a file with the completed task in PDF format. The applicant has two attempts to complete the tasks of the Olympiad, while the topic of the essay should not be repeated. The best result of these two attempts will count towards admission to ITMO University.

Summing up the results of the Competition is carried out in July. Participants who have scored from 7 to 10 points are recognized as winners of the Contest.

Competition essay topics:

  • "Russian traditions in my family"
  • "ITMO is the university of my dreams!"
  • "How do I see my future"
